Before now, sending bulk SMS to the Airtel Network has been one of touch and go. SMS messages sent from bulk SMS platforms to Airtel numbers may sometimes be pending or may fail to deliver. This was partly due to the fact that most contact numbers on the Airtel Network are fully active on the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) service; and Airtel did not provide any option for SMS delivery to their DND numbers.
Very recently,we implemented a solution that ensures delivery of SMS to DND numbers on the Airtel Network, though with a fixed numeric sender ID. That is, your unique sender name may not be displayed when recipients on Airtel DND receives your message. Hence, we recommend that you include either your contact details or company/brand/group name in the body of the SMS messages you send out to ensure your recipients recognize that the messages originate from you.
Registered sender IDs on the Airtel Network are displayed when SMS delivers to an Airtel DND numbers. However, to have your sender ID registered, your bulk messages has to be for financial purposes ONLY. That is, application for Airtel sender ID registration is only available to our corporate users for now.
